Sahara Desert Tour: Ouarzazate to Erg Chegaga (3 Days)

Day 1: Ouarzazate – Agdz – Zagora – M’Hamid

Begin your journey from Ouarzazate in a 4×4 vehicle, traveling through the stunning Draa Valley, known for its “thousand and one” kasbahs and lush groves spanning 200 kilometers. Pass through the picturesque villages of Agdz and Zagora before arriving at Tamgrout. Here, visit the historic Koranic library, witness traditional pottery-making, and explore the unique underground streets. Continue to Ouled Brahim and Reg Elfaija groves, arriving at M’Hamid, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. End your day at a desert camp, where you’ll settle into a traditional bivouac near the dunes.

Day 2: M’Hamid – Chegaga

After a hearty breakfast, enjoy a one-hour camel ride to immerse yourself in the desert landscape. Then, set off in a 4×4 vehicle to explore the majestic Chegaga sand dunes, the largest in Morocco. Stop for a tranquil lunch under the shade of palm trees or Tamarisk posts. Upon arrival at the Chegaga bivouac site, marvel at the breathtaking sunset over the dunes. Enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night under a sky filled with brilliant stars, staying in traditional tents.

Day 3: Chegaga – Foum Zguid – Taznakht – Ouarzazate

Depart Chegaga in the morning, following a trail through the vast Erg Chegaga and the dry bed of the Draa River. Pass by the serene Lake Iriqui and the village of Foum Zguid before reaching Taznakht, known for its vibrant Berber carpets and handicrafts. Along the route, enjoy several photo stops to capture the scenic beauty. Conclude your journey back in Ouarzazate.
